New America School Welcome to The New America School website!

The New America School (NAS) is a system of public charter high schools dedicated to serving a unique population - recent immigrants, their families and children who want to learn or perfect English and earn a high school diploma.

We are a fully accredited, publicly funded institution that serves young adults, ages 15-21. Our No Child Left Behind "highly qualified" staff provides intensive English language instruction and a rigorous academic curriculum to help students fulfill their dream of a better future.

At The New America School we believe educational opportunity is a cornerstone of American life and that English language skills are an essential component.

NAS was created to serve unenrolled students who might lack the English skills to succeed in mainstream high schools. The program helps students thrive in high school, and positions them for post-secondary education or whatever career options they may pursue.

New America schools are located in diverse communities where the need is greatest. We have three campuses in the metro Denver area and a campus in Gypsum, west of Vail.
The New America School was founded in 2004 by philanthropist and educational activist Jared Polis, along with several leaders in the metro Denver community: Alby Segal, Allied Jewish Federation; Rick Garcia, Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition; Susan Lythgoe, The Learning Source for Adults and Families; Harry Chan, Jamaican Elementary School; Chris Romer, State Senator; Lisa Finkelstein, Jared Polis Foundation currently with FullCircle Fund; Michael Huttner, Progress NOW; Katie Williams.
